Many of the streets in "Old Town" are one way so driving can be a bit of a hassle, and parking is a challenge in the northeast. If the choice was between renting a car or using public transportation, or taxi/Uber I'd choose Uber/Lift.

Yes, parking is not metered and available on the street wherever you can find it, including in front of the house. Just don't park on any white lines and pay attention to the signs. If you have to hunt, feel free to stop in front of the house and block the road for a couple of minutes to drop off luggage. People are used to that in Old Town.
